KELOWNA, BC (August 21, 2025) – The MRG Group, a leader in North American live entertainment and venue management, is pleased to announce it has taken over the operations, talent booking, and production for The Revelry, effective September 1, 2025. This arrangement will bring MRG’s extensive experience in live events to one of the key properties in the Okanagan Valley’s vibrant entertainment scene in the fastest growing city in Canada, Kelowna.

Owner of Revelry, Lee Simon speaks to the new arrangement, “Shortly after MRG approached us, it became clear we shared a common vision for integrating hospitality with the live event experience. MRG Live will now manage live entertainment bookings and event delivery, ensuring that Kelowna becomes a regular stop for national touring acts. Alongside, MRG’s hospitality arm, will be providing substantial support for the continued expansion of our private events, corporate events and pub night formats.”

Located in downtown Kelowna at 1383 Ellis Street, Revelry is known for its unique two-floor space, modern audio-visual capabilities, and versatile event offerings. With this new arrangement, The MRG Group will leverage its expertise to expand Revelry’s programming with a diverse range of touring artists for world-class live experiences along with local recurring events for the city.

The scene is set for the inaugural LuHi Holiday Invitational, presented by GOLD SN and produced by MRG Live. The event takes place on Friday, December 13 at UBS Arena, located 30 minutes from Penn Station or Grand Central via LIRR at historic Belmont Park.

The featured match up will see local favorites, the #4 nationally ranked Long Island Lutheran Crusaders (LuHi), take on the star-powered Sierra Canyon Trailblazers. Kiyan Anthony, ranked #36 on ESPN’s national list of top seniors, will lead his Crusaders alongside #44 ranked Kayden Mingo. They face off against a Trailblazers squad featuring Bryce James and #41 ranked Chris Nwuli. The game will also be available on ESPN+.

In the last meeting between the two teams at the Metro Classic Basketball Tournament in 2020, LuHi held on to a late ten point lead to take down Sierra Canyon 84-74. The exhilarating matchup featured Bryce James’ older brother Bronny James, now in his first year with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers.

This year’s event is reminiscent of the iconic Prime Time Shootout in Trenton N.J. in 2002, which saw future NBA legends LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony face off as high school rivals. Carmelo’s Oak Hill Academy defeated LeBron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School 72-66. Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points, while LeBron James finished with 36 points. 22 years later, their sons Bryce James and Kiyan Anthony will take the court for the LuHi Holiday Invitational to showcase the next generation of basketball superstars.

The evening will also feature an opening game between longtime Long Island rivals Chaminade and Holy Trinity. Tickets on sale this Friday, November 15 at 10am local.

Based in Montreal, QC, Robyn joins the North American team of promoters and talent buyers based in Toronto, New York, Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton and Montreal.

Well-known on the comedy circuit, she produced and booked shows in theatres and arenas across Canada, working with comedians such as Kevin Hart, Bill Burr, Ali Wong, John Mulaney, Trevor Noah, Sarah Silverman, Brett Goldstein and Wanda Sykes.

The theater has hosted a variety of events from war bond shows in the early days to Yes’ reunion in 1996. The MRG Group has named Jacob Smid, Managing Director of The MRG Group. In this role, Jacob will oversee MRG Live and lead the company’s expansion into global markets including the United States.

“Jacob and I connected more than a decade ago over a belief that when you turn activities into experiences they are more valuable than things. As an industry leader, Jacob has a proven track record of developing global markets from clubs to stadiums,” The MRG Group President Matthew Gibbons remarks. “We are excited to welcome Jacob to the MRG family and expand MRG Live into new markets and create positive shareable experiences around the globe.”

Jacob Smid is an entertainment executive with over 20 years of global experience in event production and promotion. At the age of 19, Jacob founded Emerge Entertainment. Emerge quickly became the leading Canadian independent promoter working with artists including Adele, The Killers, Daft Punk, and producing the first three Virgin Festivals in Toronto. In 2008, Live Nation acquired Emerge and Jacob was named Vice President of Talent & Marketing in Canada. In 2013, Jacob relocated to New York as Managing Director of SFX, leading US festival expansion of Tomorrowland, Mysteryland and Electric Zoo. Most recently Jacob led IMG Events Global Music & Festivals division. Jacob is also a founding partner in Fource, a leading independent promoter in the Czech Republic and Poland. The company, run by Anthony Jouet, will now have a strategic relationship with MRG Live.
